My mother was the most selfless person I have ever known. She always put others before herself. She had this never ending source of love, she would light up whenever she saw you… with open arms eager to embrace and give you one of her hugs and kisses and patented “mushie-gushies.” Upon hearing about our loss… I received several notes this week, and when speaking with the droves of people last night, everyone told me about how Ma Sep was a very special lady… warm and inviting… and full of love for everyone she knew. Even people that had only met her a few times remarked that it didn’t take very long while talking to her to leave that lasting impression. All of my friends were taken aback by how supportive she was. What other mother would come out to a club in Cambridge from Tewksbury on a Wednesday night at 11 o’clock, to listen to her son’s rock band. At the club she was often tired and in pain from standing on her fragile frame, but she didn’t want you to notice. She would still be smiling and giving out loving hugs to “all the guys.” We called her Ma, you may have called her Anne or Ma Sep and she will be with us forever. In all of us… she lives on… in our memories, our dreams and the stories we pass on... She even lives on in the way that we speak… When it is late and it is time to go to bed. “It is time for spatch.” Usually not before you have had some sort of “Bizzert.” Which usually consisted of a Devil Dog or a Scoop of ice cream or a slice of cake. If you want to reassure someone of something you or someone has just said, you tell them “you bet your sweet bippy!” If you need to extend a loving warning to someone, you tell them… “I’m going to spank your dupp!” Although she loved going to the beach, gardening and hitting the lottery, she loved nothing more than spending time with you. From her trips to York and Wells with the Crowleys, to the Hill family reunions, to visits to Meghan’s Spa for help with her feet and some lively conversation… to Christmases at DeCarolis Drive or Franklin Street or Myrtle Street or Lincoln Street. To Birthdays, Christenings, Weddings and Rock Shows. She just loved being around the ones she loved and she loved you all. Ma, you were a devoted mother, an amazing sister, a great friend, a loving grandmother, and an inspiration to everyone with all of your unconditional love. I take solace in knowing that you are now free from pain and worry. We were so lucky to have you in our lives and they won’t be the same without you. Everything that I am today is because of you. Ma… Anne… Ma Sep…we miss you and we love you. |
